Why
is IPL better than other treatments?
Edinburgh
Hair Removal
In
addition to treating multiple symptoms and locations in each session,
IPL is gentle, non-invasive and safe. Because of this, there is no
"down time." You see results in the complexion and the skin texture of
the entire face. You can return to your normal routines and activities
immediately. In fact, many people even schedule their sessions during
their lunch break. Additionally, IPL treatments are customized to your
specific skin type and color, providing the best possible results.
The
IPL Difference ?
Edinburgh
Hair Removal
IPL systems are the best laser hair removal
systems on the market for
all skin tones, from light to dark, including tanned
patients. Their
unique design, longer wavelength and innovative cooling design allow
extremely effective, safe, permanent results.
What
areas can be treated with IPL systems?
Edinburgh
Hair Removal
The IPLSystem can remove hair from all parts of
the body including the
face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat
sensitive
areas like the chest, nipples and bikini line.
What
do IPL treatments feel like?
Edinburgh
Hair Removal
As the name implies, the IPL hand-piece cools
and soothes as it glides
along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some
patients
experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local
anesthesia
or pain medication is typically required, however some patients may
prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
How
many treatments will I need?
Edinburgh
Hair Removal
Most areas require 3-6 treatments, but the
number of IPL treatments you
may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on various factors
such as your hair’s thickness, the area treated, and your hair’s growth
cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at
the same
time, but actually go through three distinct phases; growth,
regression, and resting. IPL systems work by disabling the
hair that
is principally in the active growth phase at the time of
treatment.
Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different
times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the
hair follicles in a given area.
How
is IPL used to treat benign vascular lesions?
Edinburgh
Hair Removal
Aging, sun exposure and other factors can cause
the appearance of
broken capillaries and blood vessels on the face known as
telangiectasias, which appear as spider veins. Sometimes broken
capillaries can cause a diffused redness in the skin, called erythema,
a source of social embarrassment for many people. Rosacea is a common
skin condition that is characterized by diffused erythema. All of these
conditions respond well to IPL.
For unsightly veins on the legs, both IPL and Nd:YAG laser technologies
together are capable of addressing these lesions. During treatment,
Intense Pulsed Light or laser light is absorbed by the blood in these
small veins, heating and destroying the vessels. Over time the
destroyed veins are reabsorbed and disappear.

IPL Skin Treatments are a safe, effective and popular way to improve
the signs of aging from the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. This
in-office procedure is performed by a physician or trained medical
staff member and typically requires four to six sessions of about 20
minutes each, performed at three-week intervals.
In addition to effectively treating multiple symptoms and
locations
in each session, the IPL procedure is gentle, non-invasive and safe,
requiring no downtime. In fact, many people even schedule their
sessions during their lunch breaks. Additionally, IPL treatments are
customized to each individual's specific skin type and condition,
providing the best possible results.
Who
is a candidate for this procedure?
Hair
removal in Edinburgh
Any man or woman who shows the signs of aged
and sun-damaged skin is a
candidate for IPL Skin Treatments using Photon rejuvenation. A brief
consultation with an IPL specialist should provide all the information
needed.
How are IPL Skin Treatments using Photon rejuvenation
performed?
Before treatment, a cold gel is usually applied to the area to be
treated, and patients are given protective eyewear. During treatment,
the smooth, glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently applied to the
skin, delivering precise pulses of light to the area being treated. IPL
treatments are usually pain-free, but an anesthetic cream can be used
if the light pulses are uncomfortable. Some patients compare the
sensation to a light pinch or the snap of a rubber band. Treatment
sessions usually last about 20 minutes, and a complete program usually
includes four to six sessions.
After treatment, patients can immediately return to normal routines and
activities. Occasionally evidence of treatment such as redness or
blotchiness may last for an hour or two.
How much do IPL Skin Treatments using Photon rejuvenation
cost?
Beauty Salons in
Edinburgh
Costs vary depending on the portion of the body
where the procedure is
performed, the severity of the skin condition and other factors.
Compared to other aesthetic procedures, IPL Skin Treatments are quite
affordable. IPL is usually priced above microdermabrasion and some
chemical peels, but less than laser resurfacing and cosmetic
surgeries.
What facial concerns does IPL treat?
IPL in
Edinburgh
We
are pleased to offer this breakthrough technology that is one of the
most popular cosmetic treatments in years. IPL Photorejuvenation (IPL)
is an intense pulsed light treatment for face, neck and/or
chest. IPL
is the most effective treatment for redness and flushing of the skin
and will rejuvenate the look and feel of skin by reducing fine
wrinkles, pore size, roughness and fade age spots. An IPL
treatment
package consists of a series of five, each lasting 30-45 minutes.
Why
is IPL so exciting?
Everybody loves IPL
Medical
lasers deliver a specific band of light that will generally treat one
skin problem. LePapillon’s Quantum SR and Vasculite VR IPL
Photorejuvenation Systems, deliver a broad band of pulsed light, so
they are an alternative to laser surgery, chemical peels and it has no
downtime! Following a treatment, most patients can go back to their
usual activities and can immediately apply make-up. IPL is a
safe,
non-invasive solution that can be customized to your individual needs
and will provide superior cosmetic results and high levels of
satisfaction. Even after the first treatment, skin feels
smoother and appears more even toned.
How
many and how often?
IPL
is for you
A
series of at least 5 treatments is needed to obtain the best results.
Some patients may benefit from more treatments depending on the
severity of the condition treated. Treatments are given 3-4 weeks
apart. We currently offer a series of six treatments for the
price of
five. Based on the high level of demand for this procedure,
many
offices are offering inappropriate substitutes. Don’t be
fooled by
other practices that give only a single “pass” with the machine or only
treat “part” of the face with a machine that is not a true IPL machine.
What
are the expected results?
IPL is
good for your beauty
Following
IPL there is a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing and
acne-like breakouts. Treated skin will become smoother with a reduction
in fine wrinkles and pore size as well as a fading of sun spots or
uneven pigmentation. In time, the results are smoother, healthier,
younger-appearing skin.
Is
it safe for skin rejuvenation?
Everybody
wants IPL treatments
IPL
is noninvasive and very safe. You can usually return directly to work
and apply makeup immediately. You can resume all your
activities
(except sun exposure) immediately. Very rarely, temporary
mild
bruising or blistering may occur in the treated areas, which will
resolve in a few days.
What
happens after the treatment?
Immediately following your IPL treatment, the
area may appear a bit red
and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience
what seems to be re-growth of hair. Actually, most of these
hairs are
being shed as a result of your treatment, and are not
regrowing.
Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is
permissible to shave.
Are
there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Following the treatment, you can return to your
normal activities right
away. However, since some redness may occur, you may want to
plan your
work or social engagements accordingly. The use of sunscreen
is
recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As
always, it is
a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
How
do IPL compare with other hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all
temporary methods which
must be repeated on a frequent basis. IPLoffer permanent hair
reduction for lasting results.
How do IPL compare with Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves
inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an
electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often
requires
years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light
energy
to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, IPLeffectively treat an area
in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
Why
choose IPL over other laser hair removal systems?
Using the latest technology in laser hair
removal, IPL can rapidly
treat large areas without the limitations of older
technologies. The
IPL system’s longer wavelength allows it to be used safely and
effectively on patients. Unlike other systems, IPLcan treat
the fine
hair on a woman’s upper lip just as easily and effectively as the
coarse hair on a man’s back. The cooled handpiece increases
patient
comfort and minimizes the adverse skin reaction commonly seen with
other lasers.
IPL Best for Hair Removal Because :
Best Wavelength for dark and tanned skin.
Also effective for light skin
Best range of parameter for both fine and coarse hair.
What
causes unwanted hair?
Excess and unwanted hair is a common problem.
Women frequently
experience this condition on the face, especially the upper lip or
eyebrow area, at the bikini line, under their arms or on their legs.
Men often have unwanted hair on their back or chest, between their
eyebrows or on other parts of their face. In many cases excessive hair
growth runs in families. Race can also be a factor ?whites are more
prone to having excess facial hair than are Asians and blacks. White
women of Mediterranean descent are more likely to have unwanted hair
than women who have a Scandinavian background. Hormones also play a
role. Some people experience unwanted or excess hair from the time they
reach puberty; others find it to be a condition that gets worse with
age. Some women experience additional hair growth during pregnancy or
menopause.
How is unwanted hair treated?
Conventional treatments include shaving,
plucking, waxing and
depilatory creams. These methods provide temporary fixes that are often
inconvenient, messy and irritating for the skin. Electrolysis can have
good results, but is time-consuming, sometimes painful and is useful
only in removing hair in small areas. The IPL sources are rapidly
changing hair removal treatment, providing gentle, non-invasive,
long-lasting solutions to unwanted hair on any body area.
How does the IPL system remove hair?
The IPL targets the pigment located in the hair
follicle and shaft. The
light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and this energy
is converted to heat which results in damage to the hair follicle. This
damage causes delayed re-growth of the hair, and in most cases
permanent destruction of many of the hair follicles. Unlike
electrolysis, which kills one hair follicle at a time, the laser
reaches and treats hundreds of follicles at a time.
Is it safe for hair removal?
The IPL system was developed from years of
research at the Wellman
Laboratories of Photo-medicine, one of the world's leading medical
laser research institutions. The IPL is pulsed, or "turned on," for
only a fraction of a second and the duration of each pulse is just long
enough to disable the hair follicles. A unique component of the IPL
system, the actively cooled sapphire hand-piece, was designed to
protect the skin by actively cooling it before, during and after the
IPL is transmitted. It also actively draws off heat from the skin
surface, which further protects the skin from injury.
What does the treatment feel like?
Most people tolerate the treatments very well.
Discomfort is often
described as a slight tingling or a pinch similar to the snap of a
rubber band. Topical anesthesia can be used when treating particularly
sensitive areas of the body.
Are there any possible side effects?
The appearance of the treated area immediately
following treatment will
vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of the procedure
and skin type. Side effects, if any, are usually minor. There may be
some redness and swelling around the treated hair follicles; this is a
desired clinical result indicating that the follicle has responded to
treatment. This reaction typically disappears within hours. Most people
return to normal activity right away. On rare occasions, some
blistering may occur, but this typically resolves quickly. The skin can
become darker or lighter following treatment, but will generally return
to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after
each treatment will minimize the risk of complications.
What kind of results should I expect? Does this technology
really remove hair long-term?
Yes. Scientific studies show that the use of
targeted, light-based
energy actually damages or destroys hair follicles at the cellular
level. A permanent reduction in the number of regrowing hairs is
usually achieved following each treatment. IPL is what leads to success
levels exceeding 95%.
Are the results permanent?
The IPL causes permanent hair reduction and
delayed re-growth of the
treated hair follicles. A long-term clinical study was done to evaluate
the IPL for hair removal. Of 92 patients, all had temporary hair loss
and 89% had long-term hair loss. Also, re-growing hairs were shown to
be thinner and lighter than previously. Because the IPL tends to treat
hair follicles that are in an active growth phase, more than one
treatment will be required to disable hair follicles that subsequently
enter this growth phase. However, one treatment may result in a
significant enough improvement that it may be all you desire or require.
What
happens after the treatments? Any side effects?
Immediately after the treatment you may notice
some redness and mild
swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a
few
hours. Consult your medical professional for complete
information on
the benefits and risk of the treatment.
When
will I see results?
Some patients see results
immediately. For most patients, however, the
results are gradual over a three to six month period, as new collagen
is formed and the skin tightens.
What
do Treatments feel like?
With
each pulse, you will feel a brief heating sensation. Although
some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever
beforehand, many are comfortable without anything |
